Leonardo Hotels takes over the former Radisson Blu Hotel in Erfurt
Berlin, 7 July 2025. Leonardo Hotels Central Europe is making a new addition to its portfolio in one of East Germany’s most exciting cities: On July 1, the hotel company took over the Radisson Blu Hotel in Erfurt. The hotel, which is housed in one of the city’s highest buildings, will be renamed the NYX Hotel Erfurt by Leonardo Hotels and will be brought up to the NYX Hotel standard by means of a soft renovation whilst operations continue.
Its central location at the heart of Erfurt’s old quarter will create the perfect choice for business and leisure travellers and for event visitors. The urban, art-loving and individual nature of the inimitable NYX Hotel design concept is set to breathe fresh life into Erfurt’s hotel landscape.
“The NYX Hotel Erfurt will add a further exciting destination to our portfolio,” explained Yoram Biton, Managing Director Central Europe at Leonardo Hotels. “This constitutes a continuation of our dynamic growth in Germany and in particular in East Germany, where we already maintain a successful presence of seven hotels in Berlin and one each in Weimar and Dresden. Another exciting opening is also in the pipeline for 2026 in the form of the NYX Hotel Leipzig.”
Jan Heringa, Vice President Development and Project Management, went on: “The NYX Hotel Erfurt represents the first time that we have brought our lifestyle brand to Thuringia. We have come to a city which is experiencing strong growth in terms of culture, business and tourism. Erfurt combines history with urban momentum. This makes it an ideal location for the creative and cosmopolitan NYX Hotel concept. We believe that there is considerable potential here for our unique market presence to fire the enthusiasm of both national and international guests.”
The hotel’s 284 rooms, which include 31 suites, offer impressive and remarkable diversity. Options range from Standard and Premium Rooms to generously proportioned NYX and Goddess Suites and extend to encompass the exclusive Heaven Suite, which boasts its own sauna and whirlpool. There is truly something for every purse.
Facilities include a stylish restaurant, a smart bar and a health and beauty spa area complete with sauna and gym. All of this can be found on the 17th floor, from where spectacular panoramic views of the Thuringian capital can be enjoyed. Guests are able to obtain the very best perspective of Erfurt Cathedral, the Petersberg Citadel and the charming roofs of the old quarter.
A modern conference area set at a height of 60 metres is a true stand-out. Five function rooms flooded with natural daylight and featuring ceiling heights of up to 3.5 metres provide the ideal conditions for business events, meetings and conferences. Further meeting rooms can be found on the ground floor and first floor. This takes the total number of conferencing spaces to 13. The NYX Erfurt is able to accommodate up to 400 conference guests and is one of the leading events venues in the region.
